Flor Garduño was born and grew up in Mexico City in 1957. Her first job after completing her studies at the Academy of San Carlos was as assistant to the Master Manual Alvarez Bravo. Her first book, Magic of the Eternal Game published in 1985, was followed soon after by Bestiarium in 1987. Witnesses of Time, published in 6 editions in 1992, re-issued by Aperture in 2000, was a critical and artistic success, exhibiting in over 40 museums around the world including the Art Institute of Chicago, the Center of Creative Photography of Tucson, Museums of Fine Arts in Mexico City, Buenos Aires and Santiago (Chile), the Musee de l’Elysee of Lausanne and the University of Salamanca. In 2002, she published FLOR / INNER LIGHT (Bulfinch Press, NY), a work of still lifes, nudes and portraits (4 editions) and, in 2005, her newest work SILENT NATURES (still lives), published by Gabriele Editore, Mendrisio (Switzerland).

Flor has two children, Azul born in 1992 and Olin born in 1995. They divide their time between Stabio (Switzerland) and Tepoztlan, Mor. (Mexico).

Flor Garduño’s work is represented in numerous public and private collections including MOMA in New York, the J.P.Getty Museum of Los Angeles, Stiftung fur Fotografie di Zurigo. During the past years Flor has been the recipients of several grants, most notably the Swiss Federal Grant for Applied Arts as well as the support for creators of art provided by the National Foundation for Culture and the Arts of Mexico.
